In Memory

Bob Repetowski

Bob Repetowski

From Mike Flynn: So while you are at it can you do the same to honor my friend Bob Repetowski by placing a flag next to his name on the In Memory page.  Bob served in the US Air Force from 1965 to 1969.  He then lived in Yakima for many years working in HVAC, grew tired of it and bought a shoe repair shop in Cle Elum.  He died of a massive heart attack but I do not remember the year, mid 90’s somewhere.

Rremember my Mom telling me, shortly after I'd gotten out of the Submarine Service '(72), that she had ran into you, and that were operating a shoe repair service ... well you were active in D.E.C.A. so I sort of expected you'd become a business owner ... what else did you do, did you get married, have children, change the world ... I also see you mentioned at the '75 reunion, living in Enumclaw ... when did you die?

I remember busting my knuckles on him in the 5th grade. We were friends after that. Sorry to see he is gone already!

I worked with Bob at Market Basket highlands store until graduation in 65, along with  Bob Tigner, Ted Burkhalter, Doug Toski, and some other guys whose names escape me.

I was sad to hear Bob is gone. He always seemed to have a smile on his face and he made you happy when you talked to him.

So many gone now. I remember one day in the hall he told me my hair looked good and made my day. A smart, friendly guy.

Classmates, This was sent to me by Bob’s daughter:

A gentleman by the name Mike Flynn had posted a request to place a flag next to my Father's name on the Renton HS Reunion page.

Anyways, I read some other comments from others who knew my Dad and I thought it would be cool to hear stories of him from High School.

My dad went to Viet Nam (Air Force) and was a helicopter Mechanic.

When he returned home he met and married my mother MarVaya Shong. Dad learned the boot and shoe repair trade, had 2 children John and myself. We lived in Ellensburg and Dad had a shoe shop there for  many years. He eventually went on into HVAC for a short time. He sadly passed away in Yakima on March 21 1996 of a massive heart attack at the young age of 49.

When I googled my dad's name, it made me smile to know that he's not forgotten. So, if anyone knows how to contact Mike Flynn to put us in contact that would be so amazing!

Sincerely,

Emily Eyrich (Repetowski)

Bob is not forgotten. I went all through school with him and considered him to be a good friend. I remember his science fair  project when we were at McKnight Junior high school. He was growing plants in a vacuum to see if perhaps they could grow on the moon

Bob and I were friends during and after highschool. I was his best man when he married Marvaya. Bob was a lot of fun every time I saw him. I still remember the Levi jacket he was wearing the last time he stopped by for a visit, the last time I saw him. I always knew where to find him. He'd either be home or at his shoe repair shop in the Renton Village shopping center. I lost track of him after that until he stopped by one last time. He told me that he was living in the Marblemount area. RIP Bob Repetowski.

To Bob's family, please understand that most of us never had the pleasure of seeing Bob following graduation in 1965.  I transferred from Kent in 1963.  I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Bob through grade school, Jr. High etc.  I remember him as being very friendly, accepting and just an all around good guy.  I returned from VietNam in 1970 following two tours with Army Special Forces.  I was not yet fit to be around those who lived "normal" lives.  I ran into Bob at some place in Renton, one of the newer Hotel properties I think, the party was on!  I so appreciated his kindness to me.  All those years ago.  I never forgot.
