Dave was my neighbor and my friend. His family owned the store across the street and we grew up in the same neighborhood. Dave was a big athletic good looking guy. He had the latest music, knew the latest dances, and led the way when it came to being cool.

I was in the US Army and stationed at Camp Casey Korea when I got the news of his death. It was October 1967. I had just seen Dave the month before while we were both on leave. He was coming into Pizza Pete Renton as I was leaving. I was returning to Korea in a few days and Dave would be on his way to his new duty station. He had just completed 2 tours of duty with the US Marine Corps in Vietnam. Dave died in a car accident in 1967 as he was arriving at Camp Lejeune N.C.

It is hard to look at Dave's photo, he looks so serious. He was one of the very first "Wild and Crazy Guys" and we used to have such fun conversations. It is sad that he died so young and the world lost a beautiful person. I have thought of him often over the years and still miss him today.
