Ron Mattson

Classmates,

Unfortunately we have lost another of our great RHS65 classmates. Ron passed away this month, August 2026, at Merrrill Gardens in Renton from complications of Alzheimer's. While Ron was going to good old RHS he lived in Lakeridge. Ron was very active in high school life and afterwards helped out many times on our RHS65 reunion committee! Ron, you will be missed by your family, friends and classmates. May you RIP. Below is the link to Ron's obituary in the Seattle Times.

The RHS Class of 1965 is so special, most of us met in 7th grade when Dimmitt Jr. High opened. Coming from the insular Benson Hill  area was an eye opener when I met so many new kids from Lake Ridge, Bryn Mawr-Skyway.

It is a tribute to all of us that we have remained friends for so many years. I still remember being amazed that these 13 yearold kids could go down to Lake Washington and take their parent's boats out to water ski without adult supervision. They were patient and tried their best to teach me to ski but I was a failure. I think it was because I was afraid that they never really had permission to use the boats and I kept looking out for angry dads to show up.

It has been my privilage to take photographs of our class reunions and it is comforting to go back to see the faces of so many of our dear friends that we have now lost. Ron had the distinction of being one of the few classmates still able to fit into his CRRR shirt and if you look at our past reunions you will see him proudly wearing it.

Rest in Peace Ron, we will miss you and think of you when we meet up next year.
