Dixon is correct about Ballard and Terry is correct about Shadle Park. Ballard had 932 graduating seniors in 1965 and Shadle Park had 855 according to the Spokesman-Review newspaper. RHS at 809.

Hi, Dick Mills here, I remember as a sophomore of the class of '65, how crowded the halls were during breaks between classes. My first period class, Biology, with Mr. Fink, was in the middle of the third floor on the extreme west of the school. My second period class, Geography (?), was at the extreme eastern end, on the second floor. I remember leaving Biology as soon as the bell rang, and literally shoving my way to the nearest exit, scurrying down the stairs and running the entire length of the high school, entering the east section, racing up the stairs, and several times not beating the bell (All in five minutes). Fun times for an already anxious, intimidated sophomore, who was anal about perfect attendance and no tardies.

Okay, I confess, I was the one that cut the cord off the sewing machine. It wasn't my machine and Miss Stultz told me to put it away anyway. I cut the cord off and stuffed it in the drawer, right in front of her. She never said a word. I am sure that she didn't turn me in because they may have kept me from graduating. Does anyone remember her "Muffin Method of Mixing"?

What I remember most about home-ec was learning how to bake an egg. My groups oven wasn't heating properly so our egg didn't get done (like it was still raw) and she made us put it in the fridge to finish cooking the next day. Then we had to eat it! So disgusting!!

Thanks for the confession Kathy, I knew I wasn't, for once, the guilty party.  And Gail was much to busy basting dirty words in the hem of her skirt.

I am still amazed that Stultzie didn't tell on me. Again, I don't think she wanted anything to keep me from graduating on time. I remember making custard. Ours burned so we put cinnamon on the top to hid the scorched egg and she thought we were so clever!

Does anyone know where Terry Bartlett is these days?

I saw Terry  Bartlette several years ago our daughters played basketball against each other, I would run unto him every once in awhile but haven't seen him for a few years now. I assume he still lives in Kent...he was always such a cutie and so sweet...major crush back in the day .

Don't feel bad Kathy Had the same thing happen with Mrs Mech in Sewing class. When she said the one project we were working on would have to be modled at the Mothers Tea I found a way to stop production on my Coat in protest. NO Way was I going to get up and model anything in found up people, so the coat never got finished. Miss Berry was my sernior councilor so I explained why it why I didn't want to do it. I would have died of toltal empbarresment. She checked my creidt for graduations so I had more than enough to graduate with the class. Told not to worry about the coat it shouldn't have been such a pressure to get us up there to model. The unfishied coat sat in my Mom's Cedar Chest for years.  I had straiaght A;s in that class and even the 3rd quarter got an A. She flunked me for the whole second semester. But still gratuated. Screwed up my grade point but what every I made it through.

Regarding Pat O'Day, I know Pat as we have a place on San Juan Island.  He had a bout with cancer last year but I saw him this summer and he seemed to be doing ok, and he still  pretty much sounds the same. I'd be happy to ask him about coming to the reunion if I knew some more details.

Wow, how fun to read through these memories, especially the hilarity of Home Ec. I insisted on using velvet for my project, against advice of course. Yep, it was hard to work with; I ended up freaking on it and taking the scissors to it. I cut it into shreds. Armen, the boys did plenty of deviltry, the results were clear from the hall from shop class.

Remembering Mr. Houser, the best choir teacher.  I talked to him a few years back.  He lives up north and directs a choir up there.  He has to be in his late eighties.  Loved that teacher for the potential he saw in us and was able to bring out.

Of all the people I have met in my life, no one has expressed the closeness with their old classmates that we share. I have even been told that they would like to join ours instead of theirs. We all deserve a pat on the back...and a beer!

Connie, I remember Mr Houser very well. Very much enjoyed his choir classes. He was also the co-director so to speak of the musicals the drama club put on. About the last week of school he was really ticked off at me however. I and 3-4 others were late getting to a practice for the graduation ceremonies. We had tried to get into school but used a door that was locked for some reason. Had to find another door which made us late. Man he was mad and glared at me for the rest of the practice. Said a few words to me as well expressing his displeasure. I came back the following Sept before I headed off to WSU to see him and I guess I was forgiven.

Monaghan,

Right on the money! RHS '65, 'The Class of the Classes'. If what I have heard is true, we came from 11 grade schools. I know some classmates forget this, but we came from four Jr. HSs. I was in the fourth; RHS JR HS.

I'm working on the Memorial List easel for the 50 th Reunion. When the list is printed, would anyone object to putting a "Star" or some symbol by the names of those who died in the War ?  If so, please respond with your comment to Message Forum.  Thank you.  Philip Skochilich
